Bay Boats

The Crossfields of Arnside Archive brings together the history of the Crossfield family, their boatyard, and the many boats built in Arnside and beyond. Much of this history survives in private collections, family albums, club records, old sale notices, photographs and memories.

If you have photographs, documents, stories, corrections or information about a Crossfields-built boat, we would be very pleased to hear from you. Even small details can help identify a boat, trace an owner, confirm a date, or add another piece to the wider history of the yard.

We are especially interested in material relating to surviving boats, lost boats, former owners, boat classes, sailing clubs, restoration projects and the Crossfield family itself. Where a boat is cared for by a museum, sailing club, charity or private owner, the archive can also help signpost readers towards the people and organisations connected with its story today.
